Water Jet Cutting
Water jet cutting is a versatile and precise method for cutting a wide range of materials using a high-pressure jet of water.
In some cases, abrasive particles, such as garnet, are added to the water to enhance its cutting ability. This process suits various industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and architectural applications.
Key Features
- Our water jet cutting systems use high-pressure pumps to pressurise water, typically up to 60,000 psi (pounds per square inch) or more.
- For cutting harder materials like metals and ceramics, we add abrasives (usually garnet) to the water stream to increase cutting efficiency.
- The water jet cutting machine is equipped with CNC systems that control the movement of the cutting head. The CNC system follows a pre-programmed design or pattern, ensuring accurate and precise cuts.
- A wide range of conventional processes can be performed with this single tool, including drilling, sawing, broaching, gear cutting, profile milling, punching, slitting, spline cutting and blanking.
- Our water jet cutters are fitted with ‘Tilter Jet’ technology for enabling square parallel cutting of components.
- Water jet cutting is versatile and can be used on various materials, including metals, plastics, rubber, composites, glass, stone, and more. It benefits heat-sensitive materials, as water jet cutting produces minimal heat-affected zones.
